The 2023 edition of the Bucharest Stickerz Fest, held from May 18th to 20th at Nod Makerspace, marked a significant evolution for the festival, showcasing an exciting blend of urban art and creative expressions. This year’s event expanded its scope, offering a vibrant array of activities and installations that captivated both local and international art lovers.
One of the standout features was the diverse range of Street Art styles, including Stickers and Paste-Up Collages that transformed the venue into a dynamic, colorful space. The festival’s walls came alive with intricate graffiti works by HopaOne, whose unique flair brought urban energy, inspired by the materials that Nod Makerspace creators use and are surrounded by: wood, metal, 3D printers, water. Stunning murals painted by talented artists like My Cute Creatures, Ksele, and Ilustromania further enriched the atmosphere, adding layers of visual storytelling across the venue.
A special highlight of the festival was the urban calligraphy by Mose,on the interior stairs, whose intricate lettering added a sophisticated touch to the mix. Meanwhile, Ioana Truşcă’s mosaic installations mesmerized attendees with their detailed patterns, creating an interactive and immersive experience that connected traditional and modern artistic forms.
The festival wasn’t just about watching art; it was about engaging with it. The event featured a sticker exchange and free sticker giveaways, which were hugely popular with attendees. Visitors also had the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, such as a sticker workshop with Flavia (My Cute Creatures), a decal stickers workshop with Ilustromania, and a string art workshop with mutabel (German artist born in Romania), brought to Bucharest with the help of the Goethe Institut. These workshops encouraged creativity, offering everyone a chance to learn from the experts and try their hand at new artistic techniques.
In a truly unique twist, My Cute Creatures presented a latex dress adorned with stickers, blending fashion with street art in a stunning visual statement that captured the festival’s spirit of innovation.
Additionally, the live tattoo session by Ionuţ Bădiceanu from Soundwaves Tattoo added another layer of artistry, showcasing the intersection of tattoo culture with the wider urban art movement. All in the chill reggae and dub riddims by dj’s curated by Ilustromania.
Bucharest Stickerz Fest 2023 was an unforgettable celebration of urban art, creativity, and community, offering an inspiring glimpse into the evolution of street culture and its growing influence on contemporary Bucharest.
